"..’we could not have expected more’"

Hi Ann,
Out trip home went very smoothly, and we have now had a good night’s sleep. It was a great pleasure to meet and spend time with you. All of the guides (especially you) were interesting, knowledgeable, dependable, friendly and did what we asked them to do. We could not have expected more. We also cannot thank you enough for the highly useful advice that you gave us for our trip planning. We would be pleased to recommend you to others.
Warm regards,
Arnie and Susan

"Montisi Magica is magical!"

Montisi Magica is magical!

Our group of six people stayed at Montisi Magica and we loved it! The house was completely restored by Ann Alexander and it’s beautiful, with a terrific kitchen, comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms, and an unbelievable view from the garden. What made it all perfect was Ann’s recommendations about places to visit, restaurants for lunch or dinner, and help with reservations. We did everything she said to do, which made it so easy for us. In particular, our favorite restaurant of the entire trip to Italy was the one she suggested in Sienna. It was like having a fabulous lunch in someone’s private library, looking out onto a beautiful cobblestone street.

5 stars!

"Wonderful trip…"

Dear Ann,

The onset of grey skies and autumn rain, brought back memories of our wonderful trip to Montisi: clear blue skies, beautiful weather, amazing sights and fabulous food!

We very much enjoyed our stay in your lovely house: it is decorated in great taste but it is also comfortable and very spacious. We spent lots of time in your beautiful, open space kitchen as well as on the terrace.

The little market shop, next door, was perfect for our needs and they do sell the BEST freshly made pesto! We did try using our rustic Italian but their English was so much better so we stuck with that.

Thanks to your suggestions, we visited many interesting places: lovely old little towns, which, like Montisi, had their own history and charm, as well as really good restaurants; various thermals baths, towards Mount Amiata – some of the baths were rather wild, while some were more elegant but, all of them, were altogether magical.

We visited San Quirico d’Orcia, a lovely medieval town, Castelmuzio, Petroio, Pienza, Trequanda (great swimming pool and good pizzeria), Sinalunga (for the Tuesday market), Bagno Vignoni, Bagni San Fillipo.

During our stay, Montisi was very busy preparing for the Giostra, their annual festival and we loved watching the various workshops, running till late in the night, getting the town ready for this event, with flags put up on every house- we’re just sorry we missed it.

There is so much more to do and see in and around Montisi but, sadly, we did not have enough time, this time round. So, thank you so much Ann, for letting us stay in your beautiful house and for all your help and suggestions, in particular, for arranging our cooking day with Alessandro, the brilliant local chef. It was our first ever cooking experience so we did not know what to expect. He was most patient and answered all our queries about the local market produce and guided us through the myriad of choices one could buy in the Sinalunga fresh veg/fruit/fish &seafood market. We were quite set on not having fish but he gently turned us around and we all enjoyed cooking the delicious salt baked sole as well as making foie gras with vin santo, tagliatelle and tiramisu, all from scratch.

We are most grateful to him for all his patience, especially with engaging the children, who, though reluctant at first, they ended up taking over the whole cooking process and felt terribly proud with the end result.

With all our thanks and best wishes,

Mike and Diane and family , France

"“..fantastic work..”"

“My wife and I had invited our 2 sons, 2 daughter in laws and 5 grandchildren aged 6 to 14 to Tuscany – so 3 generations for a total of 11 persons. We had asked Ann of Montisi Magica to help us setting up this wonderful vacation. Ann found a lovely house with a large enclosed garden and a private pool that could accommodate us all and that was a wonderful platform for the vacation.
We had a cook coming every evening which was fantastic and you could choose what you wanted to eat or let her decide. We decided day by day what time dinner was supposed to be ready, depending on the day schedule. The Italian kitchen is super, and having dinner served we had all the time in the world for the family to be together. One evening we actually had a chef coming in to do a cooking class – a 4 course dinner prepared by those who wanted to participate.
Montisi Magica had also arranged horse back riding for the kids, pizza baking and a farm visit for the kids, as well as private tour guides for us in Firenze and Sienna.
We have been extremely pleased with the entire arrangement and wish to thank Ann Alexander and Montisi Magica for their fantastic work, and we do not hesitate recommending Montisi Magica.”

“Ann was absolutely brilliant helping us arrange our holiday in Florence. She found us a wonderful and affordable apartment in Florence. A beautiful place with a garden on the trendy south bank of the Arno with a charming host. She also arranged for a fantastic babysitter to help us look after our 2yr old so we could go out in the evening and enjoy the delights of dining in Florence. It was one of the best weekends ever- thanks Ann for all your help!

“Ann helped arrange an absolutely outstanding trip for a group of us, devoted food and wine lovers, in the fall of 2014. The transportation between restaurants and wineries was excellent. The daily excursions were exciting and first class all the way. To top it all off she arranged a truffle hunt for us followed by a fabulous lunch. Ann is a considerate and engaging hostess and I highly recommend her! You will not be disappointed by Montisi Magica!!!”

"“We will certainly be back!”"

“October/November 2014

My boyfriend and I went to Montisi for a one week holiday at the end of October this year. We were looking for a relaxed holiday full of good views, food and wine… we certainly weren’t disappointed! We had a fantastic time thanks to Ann’s recommendations and organization. We went to Florence first for 2 nights and then drove down in our hire car (fiat 500 of course) to Montisi for 5 nights. We stayed in two places over the 5 nights we were there (because Montisi had its annual olive oil festival while we were there so the village was busy) and we were delighted to stay in both as they each gave us a wonderful and different  experience. The first was a B&B in the village with an incredible view of the olive tree’s and vineyards from our private vineyard and delicious breakfasts. The second was a little further out from the village and was extremely peaceful – surrounded by vineyards. There was also a lovely spa there with a jacuzzi overlooking the Tuscan countryside.
Here are some highlights of our week:
– Florence – Ann suggested a great apartment for us to stay in, which was close to all the sights and very comfortable. We loved wandering the streets of Florence and taking in the breath-taking views with gelato’s in hand.
– Cooking Course – Ann arranged for us to have a cooking course with one of the best chefs in Montisi. We learnt how to make homemade pasta, bruschetta and tiramisu. Fabulous!
– Wine Tasting – We tried a lot of good wine on our trip but our favourite tasting was in Montepulciano where we were taken down into ancient cellars to see huge barrels of wine and taste their delicious Sangiovese wine.
– The Olive Oil Festival – We were lucky enough to go to Montisi during the annual Olive Oil Festival. The village was bustling with  stalls selling everything from jewellery, clothes and accessories to kitchenware and flowers. The village is split into contrada’s and each had their own kitchens serving multiple courses of meals. If you wanted you could have one course in each, or stay loyal to one contrada. The festivities went well into the night and really gave us a taste of local life.
We highly recommend Montisi Magica for anyone planning a dream holiday in beautiful Tuscany. Great people, delicious food, unrivaled views, peace and quiet and endlessly good wine…what’s not to like? We will certainly be back!”

"“First class all the way..”"

Group at lunch

“Paul and I had an amazing time on our trip and are telling our friends and family that it was first-class all the way and worth every penny. Everyday was an adventure and we were very impressed with the organization of the wine-tasting events, restaurants and tours. It was wonderful to have everything planned for us! We enjoyed the anticipation of where we would be dining each evening, and found each dining experience to be varied and interesting. The transportation was always reliable and the drivers drove with caution, which made us feel safe on the roads.

It was also great having you accompany us when you were able to. You were very informative and we appreciated your hospitality which you gave us in your home. We also appreciated the ‘surprises’, such as the tour of the winery above the Etruscan cave, and your generous gift of cheese which you sent home with us. Our daughter was visiting, and we cooked the Pici with the cheese, using the recipe which you had given us, and we all loved it!

Thank you again for all of your hard work in making our vacation so wonderful.”
